Background of Establishment
The inception of GCC is deeply rooted in Dr. Umesh Kumar’s personal journey. After returning from working abroad with aspirations to establish his own enterprise in India, he encountered significant hurdles. Chief among these was the difficulty in securing business capital, as traditional banks presented numerous obstacles and complicated loan processes. Experiencing these challenges firsthand, he made a resolute decision to create a supportive financial institution specifically designed to uplift and fund young entrepreneurs. This transformative vision materialized in 2015 when he, alongside a group of like-minded individuals, founded GCC. Today, he takes immense satisfaction in knowing the society has successfully nurtured and realized the business dreams of countless emerging entrepreneurs.
Sahakara Ratna and Cooperative Excellence
Dr. Umesh Kumar’s unwavering dedication to the cooperative movement has earned him exceptional recognition. Honoring his outstanding service, the Government of Karnataka conferred upon him the highly prestigious “Sahakara Ratna” award. This esteemed state accolade was presented to him on November 20, 2023, during the All India Cooperative Week valedictory function held in Vijayapura. Achieving such a monumental milestone in the cooperative sector at a remarkably young age has earned him widespread admiration. In addition to this, his illustrious career is decorated with over 30 prestigious honors, including an Honorary Doctorate from Colombo University.
